Seniors Helping Seniors
FOCUS ON: FEELING GOOD ABOUT
AGING
Meet Lillian. She has been the smiling face at the food bank sign-in
table each Wednesday for 14 years. Helping those in need is
not just a part of her life - it is her life! A very young 86, Lillian
devotes her time and energy to helping working families, senior
citizens and the blind of the community. In her church, where she
teaches Sunday School, every newly married couple receives one of
her handmade quilts, as does every new baby. Organizing garage sales,
using her home as a collection, sorting and distribution point to
fund handicapped programs. - Lillian doesn't stop. She is
extensively involved with the needs of the blind throughout the
Denver area. Bad weather is no deterrent. If there's a need for
transportation, she merely asks, "When do you need to be there?"
Her infectious smile is given freely. Always quick with a prayer,
caring, loving, generous to a fault… it all describes Lillian.
We are proud and thankful to call her our friend.
Lillian was awarded the Denver Broncos/NFL Quarterback Award for volunteerism on
November 13, 2001, and the Minoru Yasui Community Volunteer Award for January
2003.
